1. Introduction: Brief introduction to yourself, your general lifestyle…
I’m a fashion, beauty and lifestyle journalist and editor. Former Fashion Features Editor and Beauty Editor of GRAZIA, my work has also been published in Broadsheet, Virgin Australia Magazine, The Star and MTV. I’m a beach baby who loves nothing more than soaking up the sun ‘n’ salt seaside, plus love travelling (usually somewhere beachy), drawing, cooking, eating, drinking and being the life of the party. Party tricks include knowing the entire ‘Just In’ pages of Net-a-Porter and Matches Fashion off by heart...translation: I LOVE shopping.
2. How do you define your style;
Met Gala or pyjamas! I’m an extremist in everything I do, including my style. It’s a little bipolar and kind of flits between structured and tailored, theatrical and excessive, feminine and resort-esque and nostalgic (particularly the 40s, 80s and 90s) - but always extra (even when I try not to be!).
3. Who is your style icon - is it one or many;
Oh, I don’t really have one! I draw inspiration from so many people and places and definitely feel inspired by the environment I’m in. I do love the getaway glamour of the old “jet set”; those iconic screen sirens that traversed the French Riviera in broad brimmed hats, OTT jewels and retro one-pieces. Plus the original “Supers” - Cindy, Claudia, Kate, Christy, Naomi, et al.
4. What is your signature style piece - is it shoes, jewelry, sunglasses etc;
Definitely shoes! Like Carrie Bradshaw once saw, I will literally be the old woman who lives in her shoe, such is my obsession with them! Choosing favourites would be like choosing your favourite child, but I’m currently obsessed with a pair of pine-lime strappy Bottega Veneta heels, a Rejina Pyo sculptural wedge in white patent, puffy black Proenza Schouler kitten heels with gold chain, and these Western-stye crocodile boots by The Attico which I thought would be a huge risk - but wear them religiously!
5. Where do shops - in stores, or on-line?
Well, I know the stock of Net-a-Porter, Matches Fashion and My Chameleon better than I know myself, so they are definitely my top three! On those sites, I shop much like my style: flighty and little fickle. I usually hop between my favourite luxury designers - Loewe, Khaite, Prada - and more vanguard brands like Rejina Pyo, Rowen Rose, The Attico, A.W.A.K.E Mode, Christopher Esber, Alessandra Rich, Toteme, Peter Do, By Far, Paris Georgia, Neous and Dion Lee. I also love discovering lesser-known designers like Ioannes, Gauchere, Gauge81, Materiel, Merryl Rogge and Christopher John Rogers. And like the rest of the world, Bottega Veneta - if I could own every piece, I would! But my number one is definitely Jacquemus, he has my whole fashion heart! (And my whole bank account).
For a tactile, local experience, Lee Mathews does a beautiful concept store, as does Mode Sportif. I also love perusing the impossibly chic Dion Lee boutiques. And I get all my basics and knitwear from COS and Uniqlo.
6. How do you experiment with your style - (Renting is a way to experiment)
Wearing dressy pieces during the day but paring them back (a little!). Still somehow manage to always look extra!
7. What is your favorite piece on the FAM site?
